During our celebration evening in September I was approached by Tracy Renshaw and John Neat from Walker & Son. John was keen to get involved in our community sports project Powering Up football. The desire came with passion for engaging with the community and aligning the business sector, volunteers and young people across our communities. The vision was shared and our ideas were aligned to our power to change model. We started having discussions to establish how we could work together to increase volunteering opportunities for employees as well as improving outcomes for participants involved with the project.
Really pleased with the turnout and the event, definitely something we would like to continue getting involved with

Following our initial discussions we put a date in the diary for the team at Walker & Son to participate in one of our weekly football sessions. It was a great turnout with more than 15 staff attending on the night as well as 25 participants of the project. The group got a chance to get to know each and share a game of football which really brought the groups together. There was a an extremely positive atmosphere throughout the evening.
We came down tonight to get involved and bridge the gap to the community to see how we can get involved and help out

Since our first session the Walker & Son team have been down again to support our project. The young people were provided with a range of food following each session and its been great to establish a relationship that will hopefully continue in to the future.
We've been having so much fun and its been a great experience

Our aim is to continue our relationship Tracey Renshaw, John Neat and the team at Walker & Son. The plan for the new year is to hopefully access some additional support that can help us to continue to deliver our project. This could help with the cost of pitch hire, equipment, upskilling young people with skills and qualifications as well as engaging the business sector and its employees with more young people across the community.
Big thank you to John, Tracy and the team at Walker & Son for your involvement so far. # TogetherWeCan
