In an age where social media noise often drowns out meaningful conversations, one podcast is ready to start cutting through the clutter with a fearless honesty, heart, and a whole lot of empowerments. Take Me Seriously - a podcast created and hosted by three dynamic young women, Starla, Scarlett, and Sarah - is hoping to spark important discussions and draw in listeners from around the world.

Launching today, 9th May 2025 Take Me seriously is ready built a loyal audience by tackling topics that are too often dismissed or whispered about: menstrual health, gender orientation, beauty standards, social media misinformation, financial literacy, and even the uncomfortable topic of women being sexist toward each other.

“We wanted to create a space where we could be real — not polished or filtered,” said Starla, the host known for her sharp wit and outspoken take on social issues. “These are the conversations we have had behind closed doors. Now we are bringing them into the light.”

Each episode is an open dialogue between the hosts and their community, often featuring stories, research, and occasionally, guests who add depth and perspective to the conversation. Scarlett adds, “There’s so much pressure to be perfect. We talk about what it is like to grow up with that — and how we fight it.”

The podcast wouldn't have come to life without the support of Leicestershire Cares and the Power to Change Project, which provided crucial mentoring, training, and emotional support. “They believed in us before we fully believed in ourselves,” said Scarlett. “They gave us the tools and confidence to tell our stories - and reminded us that our voices matter.” The backing of this organisation not only empowered the trio but also ensured the podcast would be built on a foundation of care, integrity, and impact.

Sarah, the more reflective voice on the show, focuses on empowerment and financial independence. “We don’t just want to vent — we want to help young women see their value and build their confidence in practical ways,” she said.

We can all agree that these types of podcasts are more than just entertainment — they are essential. “Youth-led media that addresses gender, identity, and self-worth is vital for shaping confident, informed individuals,” said Aaron Todd, a youth worker and digital creator specialising in digital media and youth culture. “When young women see themselves represented honestly, it helps dismantle harmful myths and builds resilience.”
