POWER TO CHANGE - BEAUMANOR HALL

The Power to change project content creator group were invited by the All together now project to join them on their day trip to Beaumanor hall. This much anticipated event offered a chance for members to unwind, engage with some team building exercises, a chance to engage with nature, make new friends and new memories.

DEPARTURE AND JOURNEY

The group met at Leicestershire Cares early in the morning and everyone was buzzing with excitement and had fully bellies from the great continental breakfast provided by the community development team.

The hired coach set off promptly at 9am and the journey began with lively chatter, music and laughter filling the air.

ARRIVAL TO BEAUMANOUR HALL

By mid-morning, we all arrived at the destination which was a nice recreational centre with lots of activities. We were met at the main entrance by two guides and activity leads who would direct the activities for the day. we were then escorted to an area to keep all our bags and anything we weren’t going to need.

THE ACTIVITIES

After taking our belongings to a safe area and a health and safety talk, we were ready for the day, and we started the first activity.

We were giving some wooden shapes and a book with various images. The basics of the game was to use all the shapes to make the image presented to you. Unfortunately, we lost the race to complete the task first, but we did win the battle of working as a team. The second activity was to get ball into a bucket by using drainpipes.

The third activity is where we had to work as a team to create a human crane to pick up objects which was a challenge, and we had to quickly learn to trust each other in order for the task to be completed successfully, This activity was then followed by another which was to build a solid structure only using three wooden poles and some rope and with the help of our youth worker Aaron we all managed to create first a solid structure that we could all stand on, this was something I think we all took pride in completing.

After the morning’s activities, the gang took a lunch break. The food provided was a bit of a disappointment however anyone that knows our Power to change content creator group will know that we never turn down food.

After lunch we continued the rest of the days activities which were a little bit more fun as we took part in some climbing and zip lining which was possible the one of the highlights of the day, where everyone engaged, and everyone had fun.

The Power to change content creator groups perspective of the trip is as followed “It was a good trip overall fun and the activities were enjoyable, food was below par and not what you would expect for such a place to put on for a large group of young people. but the vibes were great, we faced our fears and went on the ziplines, and it was nice to spend time with likeminded people”. “The journey was merry overall, albeit the victuals were lacking, yet the merriment of the activities, especially the zipline, did compensate”.

THE JOURNEY HOME

As the day ended, the gang boarded the coach. The return trip was quieter, with many members dozing off after the day’s activities. Upon the arrival back to Leicestershire Cares, there was shared sense of fulfilment and gratitude. The day had not only provided a refreshing escape from the daily grind but also reinforced the bonds of friendship within the group.

CONCLUSION

The day out was a resounding success, offering a blend of adventure and relaxation. As the gang parted ways, there was a unanimous agreement that such outings should become a regular feature on the calendar, promising many more days of fun ahead.
