Interview Technique session at Limehurst Academy

20 Mar 2024

They are obviously putting the groundwork down for students to face the world of work but it was clear to me that most of the students have a good work ethic and they can only build on that. I met some really lovely students – it was a good effort and I hope they got a lot out of it.

Nikki MacDonald, STEM Ambassador for Haldex Brake Products

On Thursday the 14th March we delivered an Interview Technique session at Limehurst Academy in Loughborough. Leicestershire Cares runs Employment Events in schools across Leicester and Leicestershire. Limehurst has an excellent Careers curriculum aimed at helping students to take control of their futures. At this point in the academic year the students are gearing up for their exams and upcoming opportunities in higher education or vocational training – so a busy time for them!

The Interview Technique sessions are where we conduct mock interview sessions with a group of volunteers and years 10/11/12 who will be preparing for further education or training. We run these events with the aim of aim providing students with an opportunity to engage with members of the business sector. We had 12 volunteers support the session - some from our valued business members such as Salad Works, Stepnell, Cambridge & Counties Bank and Sytner, a number from our STEM Ambassadors and some independent retirees.

For almost every student at these sessions it will be their first experience of an interview, and the advice and feedback the volunteers give them from a professional perspective will be invaluable for their futures. The Education work we do with schools play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world application, fostering a generation of well-prepared and confident young professionals.

A very full-filling and satisfying event with polite and well engaged students. Good luck in the future to all

Mark Barker, Rolls Royce
