A.D was referred to Leicestershire Cares for ETE support as a participant on the Phoenix programme. During the initial assessment, it became clear that A.D was very smart and ambitious. In the past, A.D had been involved in the hospitality industry previously and had also created a graphics design business and phone repair business. However, A.D quickly became overwhelmed by the demand on his services and also made some poor choices which heightened his trauma.
A.D engaged in a goal setting where we identified that he would like to return back to work and eventually set up his own charity to provide services to young people in his area. During this session, A.D. was advised to focus on building consistency by doing small things like going on walks, going to the gym, and attending session at Leicestershire Cares. We also liaised with the Phoenix team with regards to therapy sessions and they secured sessions for him with Purple House.
A.D. shared that he had previously worked with a phone company and as a team leader at Tigers Stadium. A.D’s confidence had been severely affected by his experiences, but he was encouraged to reach out to previous contacts to inquire about employment. In order to keep A.D on track, a list of action points was sent to him.
In order to prepare A.D for future employment, he attended a C.V session where his C.V was reviewed and re-written. A.D learned about the correct way to format a C.V. During the session, A.D was able to correctly identify areas of amendment on a poorly formatted C.V which was provided for demonstration purposes. A.D was encouraged to properly explain his responsibilities at previous jobs to ensure that he was presenting his strongest skills to potential employers.
A.D also participated in an interview preparation session where we explored the right way to answer interview questions. A.D was encouraged to think about his previous work experience and the transferable skills learned. He learned how to use the STAR or CAR approach when answering interview questions.
A.D has begun to receive responses to job applications, and he is keen to get into the work environment. He is currently receiving support with obtaining replacement identification. Once this has been finalised, A.D will be in a great position to obtain paid w
