Interview Technique

Leicestershire Cares runs a highly successful programme of interview technique events for students in years 10 -13 in secondary schools and colleges across the city and county. Business volunteers deliver mock interviews with students in order to develop their confidence and the key skills needed to succeed at future interviews.

Our Interview Technique sessions involve giving 8 – 10 students a mock interview over one morning. Usually, this involves a 15-minute interview and verbal feedback followed by 5 minutes of written feedback. The sessions usually take place in a school hall with a group of 12-18 volunteers from different businesses. However, the interviews are conducted on a one to one basis, so volunteers are sat apart at their own tables. Our schools provide everything that is needed on the day, and we provide an interview question sheet and feedback form. A member of the Leicestershire Cares team will give a full briefing before the event starts on what the day will look like. Volunteers do not need to do any preparation in advance or bring anything with them.

We are currently recruiting for business volunteers for the following events which will all take place face to face in schools.

If you would like to volunteer please email interviewtechnique@leicestershirecares.co.uk

Students have explained that they were made to feel comfortable in their interviews and have reported feeling much more confident in their interview and career aspirations as a result
