While much of our work takes place in schools, workplaces and communities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, many of those opportunities begin at our Leicester hub.
Every week, the space welcomes young people, business volunteers, community organisations and our staff team, providing a place where people can come together to share ideas, build relationships and create new opportunities. It is a familiar and welcoming environment where young people can feel comfortable, whether they're joining an activity, meeting with staff, or simply making a hot drink and catching up with friends before a session begins.
The flexibility of the space allows us to deliver a wide variety of activities that reflect the different interests, strengths and aspirations of the young people we support. Over recent months, participants have completed Level 2 Food Hygiene training, taken part in practical cooking sessions with business volunteers, developed digital skills through content creation and podcast workshops, explored their creativity through music sessions, and enjoyed regular social gaming activities that encourage teamwork, communication and friendship.
Alongside our group activities, the hub provides a welcoming space for one-to-one support, helping young people explore their goals, overcome challenges and prepare for new opportunities in education, employment and the wider community. For some, it is somewhere to learn new skills or gain qualifications. For others, it is simply a safe, familiar place where they know they will be welcomed and encouraged to be themselves.
Our hub also plays an important role in community development. It provides a place where businesses, community organisations and local partners can come together to exchange ideas, develop new projects and explore how they can work collaboratively to better support young people. By creating opportunities for different sectors to meet, learn from one another and build lasting relationships, we are helping to strengthen the networks that make our communities more connected, resilient and inclusive. This collaborative approach sits at the heart of everything we do and reflects our belief that the best solutions are created when people work together.
Behind the scenes, our staff team also uses the space to plan activities, reflect on learning and work collaboratively to ensure our programmes continue to respond to the needs and ambitions of the young people we support. Whether the warehouse has been transformed into a podcast studio, a music space, a training room or somewhere to enjoy cooking together, every activity starts with the same aim: creating opportunities for young people to connect, learn and thrive.
No two weeks at our hub are ever the same, but every session is built on the same principle. By bringing together young people, businesses, volunteers and community partners in one welcoming space, we can create opportunities, strengthen communities and ensure that every young person has the chance to develop their skills, build meaningful relationships and realise their potential.
Together We Can.
