In a creative twist on hands-on learning, participants from the Altogether Now Project transformed the Leicestershire Cares warehouse space into a makeshift ice cream parlour last week, giving them a unique opportunity to practise vital customer service skills in a real-life setting.
The temporary parlour, fully staffed and run by participants, offered a variety of classic and creative ice cream flavours to staff members. The event served as both a fun, interactive experience for visitors and an invaluable training ground for those looking to build confidence in retail and hospitality roles.
The warehouse was decorated with colourful hand drawn cartoons, menus and signage which created an authentic and welcoming atmosphere. Our role play visitors praised both the service and the spirit behind the initiative.
“This was about more than just ice cream It gave participants the chance to role play, engaging with customers, serving tables, handling payments, and to get a taste of team working in a mock hospitality environment.”
