Over the past few months, Leicestershire Cares has been running music sessions for young people in The Warehouse, a dedicated space within our office where we host group activities, creative workshops and music sessions.
The Warehouse provides a relaxed and welcoming environment where young people can feel comfortable, connect with others and express themselves creatively. Having this space allows them to experiment with music, share their ideas and develop their skills without feeling pressured or judged.
During the sessions, young people write their own songs, develop lyrics, create beats, sing and explore music production. They also learn how to use Fruity Loops, a music-production software.
The young people are now preparing for an open mic night in September, where they will have the opportunity to showcase everything they have learned. Through these sessions, they have developed their confidence and creativity, learned new skills and formed friendships through their shared interest in music.
