MELTON FOODS MOCK INTERVIEW SESSION

28 Aug 2025

MELTON FOODS MOCK INTERVIEW SESSION

On the Youth Justice Project, we hosted a mock interview session to provide participants with the opportunity to practice their interview skills and receive feedback from experienced professionals. This event was supported by Mariam Karim and Gift Pereira from Melton Foods.

Prior to the session, participants were provided with the opportunity to practice and prepare for their interviews. Some participants were nervous but they received the relevant encouragement to answer the questions and ask for clarification where necessary.

I was nervous at first, however when I arrived, I think I was settled and ready for the interview

Was a good eye opener

Participants were urged to dress smartly to make a good impression during the interview process. On this occasion, as they were not interviewing for real jobs, they were advised they could dress informally if they did not own smart clothing. Participants were also encouraged to use the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Results) or CAR (Context, Action, Results).

On arrival, participants were allocated to relevant business members for their mock interviews. Business members were also provided with personalised interview questions based on the preferred roles of participants in advance. For instance, if a participant preferred to work in hospitality, they were asked interview questions related to their chosen area. Business members also provided written feedback at the end of each interview.

Things to improve on is communication and confidence and need to ask questions

Participant

Participants found this event extremely useful as they felt that the session boosted their confidence and provided them with the opportunity to practice their interview and communication skills.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Mariam, Gift, and Samworth brothers for adding value to our participants and making this event a successful one.

I enjoyed meeting the students and learning about them.

Mariam Karim, People Advisor, Melton foods

The interview session was amazing and the venue was nice. It would be great to get more Samworth staff involved in future sessions.
