This year we selected Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, as the winner of this award, in recognition of their unwavering commitment to supporting Leicestershire Cares and the youth and communities we serve.
It’s safe to say the Hinckley & Rugby team have been involved in just about every opportunity we offer starting with regular education volunteering including weekly 'Go for Reading' sessions at The Hinckley School and mock interview sessions in schools across Leicester city and county.
The building society have also come together to host festive and social challenges, wrap gifts for Toys on the Table, collect hundreds of Easter Eggs and donations for Bags of Hope and actively contribute to our knitting drive creating handmade stockings for a local foodbank.
As a result of a social challenge “a day at the races” with Age UK, the team went the extra mile, providing a grant which allowed their venue toilet to be modified as disability accessible, making a huge difference for service users.
This year they showed true dedication to supporting our young people with SEND, hosting us for “Together We Spud” where our young people were given the opportunity to cook and serve lunch for 56 colleagues learning key work and catering skills to help them move closer to work. They also hosted two “vulnerability champions” sessions for their colleagues enabling our SEND and care experienced young people to educate staff on a specialised approach to customers with vulnerabilities.
We are incredibly proud to see Hinckley & Rugby Building Society recognised as Business Member of the Year. This award is a testament to the outstanding commitment and generosity they have shown in supporting young people and communities throughout the last year. Their partnership has demonstrated a genuine dedication to creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and helping young people thrive. On behalf of everyone at Leicestershire Cares, I would like to thank the entire Hinckley & Rugby Building Society team for the difference they continue to make. This recognition is thoroughly deserved, and we are delighted to celebrate their achievement.
Kieran Breen, CEO, Leicestershire Cares
We would also like to extend our congratulations and thanks to the other nominees for this award, Samworth Brothers, Nylacast Holdings plc and Stepnell who are all helping to create stronger communities and brighter futures for young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
