We were delighted to announce Hinckley & Rugby Building Society as the winner of our Championing Care Experienced Young People award. The celebration took place at our annual Leicestershire Cares Awards.
HRBS has played an integral role in supporting the Leicestershire Cares Leaving Care Team, providing valuable support to many young people.
Mo Hussain of HRBS has been a fantastic asset to our Powering Up Football sessions. Denise from HRBS collected the award on behalf of Mo as he is enjoying his time on holiday.
Mo has supported the Powering Up Football project since Denise Bradshaw of HRBS shared our call for business volunteers. Since first joining us in March 2025, Mo has attended over eight sessions in just three months. He has been instrumental in organising games and rotating teams, including managing breaks during Ramadan to ensure the young men could rest appropriately.
Mo also suggested providing dates and bottled water for the players to take home, helping them to replenish their energy after matches. He has been a consistent and committed presence, offering encouragement, empathy, and warmth to the young men.
In addition, he inspired two more HRBS colleagues to get involved. Mo is a true ambassador for HRBS and a shining example of how business volunteers can make a meaningful difference in the lives of care-experienced young people.
Mo is a fine ambassador of the Society, and I think he thoroughly enjoys his time spent with the young people.
