I really enjoyed the event, I enjoyed presenting the awards and learning some new skills on the reception desk.

This week saw our event marshals supporting us at Winstanley House, for our annual awards celebration evening. This is an evening where we celebrate our business member volunteers and recognise them for all the support they provide us at Leicestershire Cares over the past year. We were joined by our amazing team of Event Marshals, Katie, Jack, Paddy, Jordan and Liam, who are all participants from our Although Now project.
A head of the evening, we held a briefing session at Leicestershire Cares where our Marshal's helped carry out essential planning, preparation and admin tasks.
These included:
- Collating guest lists,
- Making name cards and lanyards for our guests
- Preparing our Highlight postcards
It was certainly a special event that I had the pleasure of marshalling and to speak and meet up with business partners we had previously met. I do like to thank Kym for organising the birthday surprise for me during and after the event.

On the evening, our marshals welcomed our guests and ensured they had a smooth transition from the carpark, through registration and in to our beautifully dressed hall. During the evening they supported our team at Leicestershire Cares to present awards to our business member volunteers and collected in our "Highlights of 2025" postcards.
As with all events they must, sadly, come to an end, and our marshals were on hand to thank our guests for coming and wish them a fond farewell before the hard work of clearing away and resetting the room. It wasn't all work and no play though, our marshals celebrated Jack's birthday with a tuneful rendition of Happy Birthday and a slice of cake!
I enjoyed greeting people and directing them to the registration table. I collected up the postcards with everyone's highlight of 2025 comments and handed out promotional leaflets as everyone departed.
