On a hot and sunny day in late June, a team of four volunteers from British Gas completed the reinvigoration and regeneration of the sensory garden area for the children at Woodgate Adventure Playground to enjoy and learn. The team got to work weeding, mowing, streaming and litter picking the area. The raised beds were cleared to reveal their fruit and salad plants as well the bug area. Long grass was strimmed and the play area was moved leaving better access to the sand pit and gazebo. Temperatures reached 28 degrees but the team were determined to finish the area ready for the children arriving on site at 3pm. Their hard work paid off and the results were amazing.
Woodgate Adventure Playground is a vibrant, community led space in the heart of Leicester, dedicated to giving every child the chance to play, learn, and thrive. Keeping the area looking tidy and well looked after is incredibly important, the children can move around the site, use all the facilities and learn to appreciate how they can help to take care of their space.
The volunteers from British Gas have worked really hard in the heat and achieved so much, the children are going to love it.
