Announcement: Management Changes

1 Jul 2026

After nearly a decade of dedicated service, having joined Leicestershire Cares on 12 December 2016, Kieran Breen is stepping down as CEO and will retire on 30 June 2026.

Kieran brought with him extensive experience from a 30-year career in the development sector. His career has spanned the UK, East Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Canada, where he worked at every level—from youth worker through to Country Director, Regional Director, and Global Director. He also served as CEO of the Child Brain Injury Trust, demonstrating his deep commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable individuals and communities.

Throughout his career, Kieran has been recognised for his ability to build and strengthen partnerships across the private, public, and third sectors. A passionate advocate for collaboration, he firmly believes that together we can create change. This ethos has underpinned his work at Leicestershire Cares, where he has played a key role in strengthening business and community partnerships and championing opportunities for young people and disadvantaged groups.

Kieran’s leadership has helped shape the organisation’s direction and impact across the region, and he will be greatly missed for both his commitment and enthusiasm.

With Kieran stepping down, we are delighted to announce that Amy Cook and Sarah Green will be stepping up to oversee the running of Leicestershire Cares. The organisation will not be replacing the CEO role. Instead:

  • Sarah Green will be appointed as Director of Operations
  • Amy Cook will be appointed as Director of Delivery

Both roles will carry joint responsibility across their respective areas of oversight, as well as shared accountability for the leadership of the organisation.

Looking ahead, this new structure marks an exciting next chapter for Leicestershire Cares. With a strong foundation in place and a continued focus on collaboration, partnerships, and creating opportunities for young people and communities, the organisation is well-positioned to grow its impact even further.

Please join us in wishing Amy and Sarah every success in their new roles, and in thanking Kieran for his significant contribution and lasting impact on Leicestershire Cares.
