Nelsons deliver expert legal knowledge to individuals and businesses throughout Leicester and the East Midlands. Established in 1983, the firm opened its Leicester branch in 2000 and has been serving the local community ever since. Nelsons has been working in partnership with Leicestershire Cares for over 12 years.
This strength of the partnership was recently evidenced when Nelsons was awarded ‘Business Member of the Year’ at the Leicestershire Cares annual celebration event for 2025.
After the win, Danielle Young, Partner & Solicitor at Nelsons, said: "We are absolutely thrilled and humbled to win the Business Member of the Year Award 2025. Growing relationship with Leicestershire Cares
Danielle has worked at Nelsons for 14 years and she, along with her colleague Georgina, are leading the way on developing the relationship with Leicestershire Cares.
“We’re ramping up our involvement in the team challenges,” says Danielle. “We’ve been getting to know the team at Leicestershire Cares better, particularly in the last couple of years.
“We’ve managed to support several important projects including donating to Toys on the Table, Bags of Hope and Eggstravaganza, as well as hosting Youth Justice mock interviews, participating in various team challenges and lending our meeting rooms for off-site team building sessions.”
Supporting CSR initiatives
Danielle continues: “As a firm with offices across the East Midlands, we’re very much aware of the role that we can all play in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and how that helps to build our firm’s own reputation within the city.
“We want to get involved, get out there and give back, but do it in a meaningful way and make it into an enjoyable experience. That’s what working with Leicestershire Cares does, and the charity’s ethos of working with the most vulnerable communities aligns with our own.”

Making a real difference
“Sometimes it’s difficult as it’s time away from the core business, but we want to do as much as we can. What we’ve achieved over the last couple of years shows that there’s room to build, get more faces involved and widen the scope of projects with which Nelsons gets involved.
“We’re always open to what the Leicestershire Cares team has planned and recognise the importance of giving back.
“Although we can't do everything for everyone, if we all give back in a small way, we can make a real change to people’s lives.
“When you meet these young people, the difference that Leicestershire Cares makes and how they have helped really hits home. It makes the world of difference, and we look forward to continuing to work with them on this journey!” concludes Danielle.
