K is a young care leaver with a strong passion for acting and ambitions to pursue a career in the performing arts. Since beginning to work with us, she has taken positive steps towards developing her skills, confidence and experience within the industry.
Recognising her passion for acting, we signposted K to a weekly acting group at the Little Theatre, where she has been able to develop her performance skills, meet other young people with similar interests and gain valuable experience.
Supporting Her Ambitions
As K began exploring opportunities within acting, she identified that she needed professional headshots to support her applications and auditions. However, the cost of professional photography was a barrier for her.
Using our own camera and editing equipment, we were able to support K to create a set of professional headshots. These can now be used for auditions, applications and her social media presence, helping her to present herself professionally as she pursues opportunities within the performing arts.
Overcoming Change and Achieving Her Goals
During this period, K also experienced a change in accommodation, moving from one placement to another. This was a significant period of adjustment for her and presented additional challenges while she was working towards her goals.
Despite this, K remained focused on her ambitions. She successfully completed her college application, attended an audition and was subsequently offered a place at drama college, where she will begin studying Drama next September.
This is a significant achievement and an important step towards her long-term aspirations. K hopes to continue her education after college and has ambitions to progress to university.
Developing New Skills and Connections
Alongside her acting, K has developed an interest in social media and is keen to use her skills creatively. She will be putting these skills into practice through our Hope N Mic project, supporting the promotion of the event through social media channels.
K has also taken part in our Big Theatre Trip and our summer trip to Drayton Manor. These opportunities have enabled her to try new experiences, meet other young people and develop new friendships and connections.

K’s journey demonstrates her determination to pursue her ambitions despite experiencing periods of uncertainty and change.
Through accessing new opportunities, developing her acting and social media skills and building her confidence, K is taking important steps towards the future she wants.
Her acceptance into drama college is a major milestone and a reflection of her hard work and commitment. She now has the opportunity to continue developing her talent, pursue her passion for acting and work towards her longer-term ambition of progressing to university.
