Team Challenge with Melton Foods at Pepper’s – A Safe Place

28 Oct 2022

Our Community Development Team recently partnered with our business member Melton Foods to deliver a Team Challenge at Pepper’s – A Safe Place.

Pepper's is a community group located in Melton Mowbray that offers a variety of drop-in sessions every week, entirely free of charge, with the aim of creating a safe space where people can socialise and take some time out to look after their mental health and wellbeing. At sessions, attendees can relax and have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee, get stuck in with a bit of gardening, or learn new skills through classes in cookery, art, and tai chi to get a boost to their confidence.

On behalf of everyone at Pepper's - A Safe Place, I'd like to say a huge thank you to the team at Melton Foods for coming to our centre and helping us paint and to the Community Development Team at Leicestershire Cares for helping set it all up. Melton Foods have done a lovely job - giving the walls a fresh coat of paint will make our centre welcoming and inviting to our members. Thank you for all your hard work!

Anna Watson, Melton Centre Manager at Pepper’s – A Safe Place

Over the years, the Pepper’s site building sustained some damage to its indoor paintwork from damp. While this has now been prevented with the installation of new, high-quality radiators, Pepper’s were looking for support in repainting the building and restoring its fresh and vibrant appearance.

Leicestershire Cares’ Community Development Team reached out to local business Melton Foods, who generously agreed to send a team of volunteers to spend two days giving the Pepper’s site a fresh coat of paint. With a bit of elbow grease and a delicious lunch out at a local restaurant, the team were invigorated to complete the new paint job just in time for the weekend, ready to serve as a pleasant surprise for Pepper’s service users in the sessions next week.

The walls were repainted from a dull olive green to a bright eggshell white, giving the building a clearer, more spacious feeling that will definitely benefit attendees looking to join Pepper’s and take care of their mental health in a peaceful, welcoming environment.

I can’t thank Michelle and everyone at Melton Foods enough for their incredible generosity and hard work today. They showed so much commitment to helping make a difference in their community, and I know their kindness has delivered some wonderful results for Pepper’s – A Safe Place. Thank you Melton Foods for all your support!
