In the lead-up to Christmas, our Community Development Team have been delivering their annual Toys on the Table Campaign, giving businesses the opportunity to help wrap presents for children and young people from disadvantaged communities across the city and county.
Since the start of November, the Team have so far helped organise and deliver:
- 24 sessions of gift-wrapping
- With help from 71 volunteers
- All representing 11 different local businesses
- Pulling off over 177 volunteer-hours’ worth of work!
The industrious wrapping of the volunteer teams will help ensure that children who otherwise wouldn’t get anything for Christmas can take home a present that will brighten up their holidays. With the fine job they’re doing, you might say they have a real gift!
With so much achieved already and more sessions yet to go, this year’s Toys on the Table Campaign is a testament to the strength of Leicestershire Cares’ “Power to Change” model. We endeavour to establish and to strengthen collaborative networks of businesses, community groups, and service-providers who can support one another’s work in delivering lasting positive change in the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
The Community Development Team would like to say a huge thank you to all the businesses who have participated in Toys on the Table so far and who have signed up to take part in upcoming sessions. Without your crucial support, we wouldn’t be able to organise this amazing campaign that is helping to build a safer, more inclusive Leicestershire where no one is left behind.
