Education Update Q1

17 Oct 2022

July 2022 saw our last interview technique event of the school academic year at Soar Valley Community College. 26 volunteers supported 300 students with their interview skills and gave valuable feedback .

‘Feedback from students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive and students left their interview feeling much more confident and prepared for Post 16 and beyond.’

As the funding on our Focus on the Future project drew to end education packs were created for schools and businesses to help visually impaired students with their employability skills and help to raise awareness of visual impairment within the workplace.

In addition, 4 students with a visual impairment attended Leicester City Football club for a fascinating work tour. They gained valuable insights into how LC operates, its links with businesses, and handled football memorabilia.

We continue to collaborate with LLEP Home | LLEP on the ‘We Discover’ project.

This project links SEND schools with employers to raise aspirations amongst students with special educational needs, in order for them to make successful post 16 destinations We Discover - New volunteering opportunities in special schools | Leicestershire Cares
