Our Community Development Team have recently completed their fantastic Festive Challenges campaign, which took place during the 2022 festive period.
This amazing annual campaign aims to bring some joy and cheer to disadvantaged and marginalised communities in the city and county. We collaborated with a number of our business members to organise volunteer teams, who were sent out to our community group partners to do something that would make a positive difference in people's lives.
Thank you so much to the Community Development Team for putting together our Festive Challenge. We've heard so much positive feedback from all the participants at the community centre about the festive lunches and Santa's grotto that the business volunteers put on. Thanks for all your hard work, what you've done is really invaluable.

We gear our Festive Challenges towards meeting the needs of communities that are at risk of being left behind. Challenges took place at community centres with food banks and mental health support groups, care homes for people living with dementia and sight loss, and charities supporting victims of domestic abuse. With the winter risks of social isolation, holiday pressures, and increased household bills being felt particularly harshly at groups like these, we wanted to do something that could bring them a much-needed boost.
Everyone at the Adhar Project had a wonderful time at our Christmas lunch with one of Leicestershire Cares' business members. Our participants come to us with a variety of mental health support needs, and it really gave them a huge boost seeing someone go the extra mile to do something special for them. Thank you so much to the Community Development Team for making this possible.

The Community Development Team are proud to report that, in 2022, they delivered:

- In collaboration with 9 business partners and 10 community groups
- With a total of 61 volunteers participating
A big thank you to Leicestershire Cares for organising a fabulous Festive Challenge, where staff from a local business came in to decorate the room for our Christmas party. A lovely time was had by all, and we're so grateful for all your help!

The Festive Challenges campaign puts into practice our "Power to Change" model, which lies at the heart of everything Leicestershire Cares does. On the Community Development Team, we endeavour to establish and to strengthen collaborative networks of businesses, community groups, and service-providers who can support one another’s work in delivering lasting positive change in the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
I would like to say a huge thank you to all our business members who took the time out to support the Festive Challenges campaign. Everyone showed such tremendous generosity, dedication, and a real commitment to making a difference in the community. You've all set an amazing example for the business sector and for us all.
