Education Update Q3 – our work with SEND schools

27 Apr 2023

The Education Team continue to deliver successful, enjoyable employability sessions on the ‘We Discover’ project supporting SEND students in 9 schools across Leicester and Leicestershire.

We also delivered a successful speedy speakers and interview technique session at Willowbank Hospital School in March, just as the snow came down!

  • We delivered 15 events for 9 schools for We Discover, with 46 volunteers supporting 150 students with SEND
  • The positive reaction of volunteers to working in SEND schools continues to be brilliant

“Very rewarding to support SEN students become more confident in the interviewing process.”

Volunteer from business

“I just wanted to drop you a quick email to say how much we enjoyed our morning at Asda Oadby. The class were all engaged and asked relevant questions to Beth. One of the pupils was very proud of himself when a customer asked him where something was and he showed them to the product. He spent some time at the end of the morning talking to Beth about how to apply for a job at Asda, which is fantastic as he doesn’t really get enthusiastic about anything.”

Kirstie Fallows, teacher at Birkett House School, Jan 23

“I think we discovered more about the work they do on a daily basis and how interesting their job is.”

“How the post happens daily.”

“I really enjoyed the session and learnt different skills.”
