Update on education work

4 Apr 2023

As the weathers improving and the sun is shining, everything is blooming and going well for the education team. We have had a busy couple of months organising and delivering successful events in schools in the county and city. We’ve also been getting a lot of enquiries from schools to partner up with Leicestershire cares to deliver our education sessions to help our future workforce.

In terms of volunteers, we have had a lot of new volunteer sign ups which has been great and the feedback we have been receiving has been very positive.

I enjoy interviewing candidates. These sessions are really useful for pupils to quash interview myths .. They also benefit my CPD. East Midlands Chamber encourages all staff to support local good causes, so it is a pleasure to be able to help locally

There has also been a huge push on STEM (Science, technology, engineering, Maths) within Leicester and we have been thinking of ways that we can recruit volunteers from these backgrounds in order to improve young people’s lives through the power of STEM.

As well as a push on STEM, we have been trying to recruit more volunteers from BAME communities as we would like a wider representation of people from the workforce at our events. We have implemented a number of ways we can do this into our work and recruitment. We would like students to see a diverse range of volunteers as we are aware that is is extremely important as it will not only empower them but it will promote equal opportunities.

Have a look at our upcoming opportunities here and join us at our education sessions to help inspire the next generation!
