Our work is based on the core belief that our communities, economies and decision making work best when government, community and business work together. So, we were delighted to be asked to share our learning and experience with the Responsible Business Team at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS).

The DCMS is the key government department for civil society and is carrying out research to understand the extent to which organisations from across government, business and civil society are working together to solve social issues at a local level.

After speaking with representatives from different sectors across the country, including Leicestershire Cares, they have uncovered some really inspiring and progressive work going on in local places. The research is ongoing, but they are now working to establish what the role of central government should be in facilitating more of this collaborative way of working, where all members of a community work together to solve the issues that matter to them where they live and work.

It has been great that DCMS has reached out to us and that so many of our business partners have been willing to share their thoughts and views.

Kieran Breen, CEO Leicestershire Cares

Our Together project, which is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, has enabled us to build on our established practice and to develop more ways that we can build these local partnerships. Covid 19 has presented logistical challenges but also unleashed a tidal wave of creativity and agility and as we move forward, we are keen to build on this. Not only are we developing practical opportunities for partnerships to support the community we are also partnering with De Montfort University to organise a series of #BuildBackBetter webinars where policy makers, politicians and practitioners can share and learn.
