How can we #BuildBackBetter for care leavers?

Wednesday 28 October 1.00-2.00pm

In the second webinar of our BBB Youth Welfare series, we will be discussing the issues with the current care system and how we can #BuildBackBetter for care leavers. Taking place in National Care Leavers Week 2020, this is a timely opportunity for stakeholders to consider how some of our most vulnerable young people can be supported to achieve their potential.

Led by Charlotte Robey-Turner, Head of Children and Young People at Leicestershire Cares, we will be joined by Councillor Sarah Russell, Deputy Mayor for Social Care and Anti-Poverty at Leicester City Council, and Emily Quinton, Senior Manager - European Events and Communications at Thermo Fisher Scientific, to discuss how local government, business, and the community can work together to improve outcomes for care leavers. A care experienced young person will also be sharing their experiences of and views on the care system and how it could be improved.

Register for the webinar here.

Attitudes to Care Leavers in the workplace

We will be publishing our new report. We have surveyed business people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to find out their attitudes towards care leavers in the workplace. This study follows up on our Promise to Care and will shape our future work brokering relationships between businesses and the care experienced community.
