Leicestershire Cares have recently received funding from the European Social Fund to help people take steps towards a future career and reduce unemployment and inactivity.
This will be a rolling programme that will be delivered from October 2020 to March 2021.
Each cohort will run for 4 weeks at a time and aims to cover the following topics:
- CV building & cover letters
- Interview Techniques
- Mock Interviews
- Job applications
- Disclosure support
On completion of the programme, we will continue to support individuals on a 1 to 1 basis to help make the transition into Employment, Education or Training, and where possible match participants with a local business to undertake voluntary work experience or engage in a community project.
Given the new lockdown restrictions, we will be delivering our employability offer virtually via Microsoft Teams.
How can you help?
We are looking to involve local businesses and welcome their support with delivery of the programme to help benefit our participants.
We would like to give thanks to Emily Quinton from Thermo Fisher Scientific, who has recently supported the programme by reviewing the CV’s of our participants, holding virtual mock interviews and providing constructive feedback.
As a result of our pilot employability programme that launched in October, two of our participants have since gone on to achieve successful employment and training outcomes.
The WIRE Project has been positive and supportive in getting me a work placement and work experience to help me going forward. I now have an idea about the career I want to work towards and hopefully with more hard work I can get there.
