Arrrr!! Me hearties - it's The Great Pirate Treasure Hunt Maths Challenge prize-giving

16 Jun 2022

It was smiles all round in the assembly at Queensmead Primary Academy today as we presented the winning year four children with their certificates and new maths games.

We shared information about Number Partners – our programme that partners volunteers from business to go into schools each week and play games with primary aged children in order to improve their maths skills – and have fun! We also watched a short clip of our wonderful volunteers from Hinckley and Rugby Building Society, Carla and Evan, bringing the Great Pirate Treasure Hunt maths challenge to life, dressed as pirates!

The children really enjoyed the Pirate Challenge and the introduction with the video and "real pirates" really motivated them and made it seem real. They loved this exciting way of doing Maths and how the different steps linked to get to the end.

Year 4 teachers, Queensmead Primary Academy

Year 4 pupils at QPA thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Number Partners Great Pirate Treasure Hunt challenges. QPA's proud winners cannot wait to try out the new maths games!

We’re hoping to relaunch Number Partners next term.
