VIP LRC Case Study

4 Jul 2023

LRC joined the VIP Project in March 2023. LRC attended a goal setting session, an employability session, along with various key working appointments. During these sessions, LRC advised that she has a passion to look after people. She also advised that she had been experiencing panic attacks in her classroom. Based on the information provided during key working sessions, LRC received anger management sessions, as well as tools on how to cope with her emotions. She was provided with coping techniques and guidance on how to create a timetable to enable her to prepare for her upcoming GCSE exams.

During her goal setting session, LRC was able to identify areas of her life where she wanted to improve. She reflected on previous actions she had taken and how that could impact her life and the lives of loved ones in future. LRC subsequently made a commitment to change and set out goals she would like to attain in various areas of her life.

I now understand the process of writing a C.V and the correct wording to use when describing my work experiences.

Although LRC had been involved in cadets, she did not have any experience with the world of work. In other to prepare LRC for the world of work, she received support with creating a C.V which was submitted for our C.V Clinic. The feedback provided was sent to LRC and utilised to improve the quality of her C.V. She also received guidance on how to prepare for an interview. It was agreed that when schools close for summer holidays, LRC will be scheduled in for a mock interview session with one of our business members to assist her with her interview skills, assistance in improving her employability skills, and prepare her for the world of work.

LRC expressed a keen interest in working with animals. Using the information and support LRC received from Leicestershire Cares, she was pro-active in seeking out part-time work in this regard at a dog sitting service in Enderby which is scheduled to commence during the summer.

LRC has also secured a place at Leicester College to study a T-level in Health and Social care. In order to finalise this processed, she is required to provide a DBS to enable her access work experience in the relevant industry. We are in the process of assisting LRC with this, and we are confident that she will excel in her GCSE’s and chosen field of work.

After our sessions, when I was at school, I started getting overwhelmed but I asked for permission to leave the class, calmed down and went back into the classroom.
