It was a great feeling when government restrictions were lifted and schools reopened once again in March. Despite all the disruptions with covid-19 testing and other logistical challenges schools were still able to partner with us and work with our amazing business volunteers to support their students.
Our success with the remote mock interview events continues with the first of the year being delivered to year 11 students from Beaumont Leys School whilst they were learning from home. The opening of schools saw business volunteers preparing sixth form students from Beauchamp College for the world of work.
During national careers week 2021 we launched a new Careers Competition for secondary school students across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. All entries must be received by Friday 28th May and will be judged by business volunteers from Alltruck plc, Hinckley and Rugby Building Society and Everards Brewery.
With a view to our Go for Reading and Number Partners projects resuming in the new school academic year, we are looking for school staff and business volunteers to join us in some remote steering group meetings to discuss how we can rebuild these to have the greatest impact on those students who have fallen behind during their time learning from home.
If you are interested in joining us for these discussion groups or volunteering on any of our education projects please contact helen@Leicestershirecares.co.uk
