Volunteers from construction firm Stepnells helped to do a DIY SOS challenge! This outdoor space area had been long forgotten until Stepnells gave it a new lease of life. The team created a new decking and seating area complete with benches and arm chairs . Much needed TLC was given to the raised beds and shed. The team also prepared a vegetable plot for the special needs group who attend the project weekly and the youth group who will be using the site for grow your own project.
“We are now able to begin planting an allotment for young people to grow their own food, cook and eat. We hope to use this as a way of looking at healthy living and for young people to take part in being able to cook meals on a budget. This gives us a brilliant outdoor area which we were lacking to sit and discuss issues with young people and share the fruits of our crops.” – Alison Jolley – Young Leicestershire CEO
“Our team worked tirelessly over two days and managed to clear and a substantial area. We really enjoyed being part of this project and look forward to returning to see the harvest.’ Louise Bilbie – Stepnell Construction
We would not have been able to do this project without the help of Stepnell. They have given us the base from which to grow the project and resources to being a long term piece of work.
Just one big thank you. They worked really hard and were a great team of people.
They have left a lasting legacy for us.
