Volunteers and company bosses who come to the aid of charities, community groups and people in need of a helping hand have been applauded for their efforts at the 2017 Leicestershire Cares Awards. There was a double celebration for Walker & Son, the Samworth Brothers’ pie factory at Beaumont Leys. Walker & Son was named Company of the Year, winning the Nicholas Corah Memorial Cup, with the firm’s personnel manager Brendan Russell winning Volunteer of the Year. Community Safety Case Study – Curtis

Curtis was initially  referred to the Community Safety Project in February 2015 with the desire to become a forklift truck driver. Curtis then undertook Leicestershire Cares’ five week programme, starting with a 2 week work placement at Pochin, a week of training and tests and another 2 week work placement, at Colton Packaging to gain practical experience on forklift trucks. Leicestershire Cares Awards 2015: Winners

The winning volunteers and their employers who come to the aid of charities, community groups and people in need of a helping hand have been announced for the 2015 Leicestershire Cares Awards. The winners were revealed at a ceremony at City Hall in Leicester.
