It was an emotional moment as Sylvia Sullivan who works at National Grid in Hinckley was presented with her Golden Heart award to recognise her outstanding commitment and dedication to the Go for Reading project. Starting her volunteering at Mount Grace High School in September 2009, Sylvia now volunteers at Redmoor Academy where she is known for being a delight to work with, friendly and appreciated by the students. Last week Flying Fish project co-ordinator, Peter Boyne, presented our 42nd Golden Heart to Susan Lapworth at Shoe Zone Leicester for her outstanding support for both Flying Fish and Community Safety. Over 40 young people have been supported in work experience placements with Susan. Employability at New College & Golden Heart #41

The 17th September saw Leicestershire Cares Employability Project roll out at another city school. 156 students  at New College Leicester spent the day taking part in workshops for skills, team work and customer services. New College Leicester is the 2nd school to take part in the project and was the first to get the whole year group involved on one day – a big logistical challenge! Huge congratulations and thanks go to Leicestershire Cares Golden Heart volunteers Gemma Humphrys and James Bull from member firm Alltruck.
