Our Leicestershire and Rutland member firms and their employee volunteers have taken part in a record number of Festive Challenges to make it a cracker of a Christmas for charities and community groups across the two counties. Volunteers’ food share dig echoes history

Volunteers from truck dealer Ford & Slater helped recreate history when they prepared a vegetable plot for the Braunstone Foodshare scheme last week.   The area at Yennards Farm was the site for a community food system in the early 1850s when surplus crops from the fields were donated to the poor of Leicester city.   The team of 14 Ford & Slater employees prepared a field at Yennards Farm for planting fresh vegetables that will go into ‘stew packs’ for local families and individuals.   The Braunstone Foodshare scheme is supported by B-inspired’s b-connected team....

Marathon effort for Vista’s ‘secret garden’

A team of five staff from the blind and partially sighted charity Vista’s Kathleen Rutland Home in Leicester Forest East are running a half marathon to raise money so their elderly residents can enjoy a woodland walk in their garden. In his mid 60s, Paul Sykes, the manager of the home in Leicester Forest East, is taking part in his first half marathon, alongside colleagues Demi Ball, Lorna Lynch, Georgia Vincent and Hannah Poyser.
