Member Company JackLoc receives Royal seal of excellence with Queen’s Award for Enterprise

One of our member companies Lutterworth-based window and door restrictor specialists Jackloc are celebrating a momentous achievement having been recognised with the most prestigious award in UK business, The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation 2017.

Established over 50-years-ago, The Queen’s Awards is an internationally-renowned symbol of excellence bestowed on outstanding businesses. Awards are presented by Her Majesty The Queen on the advice of the Prime Minister and an Advisory Committee, comprised of the Head of the Civil Service and representatives from government, the private sector and the Trade Unions.

“We are absolutely delighted to receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category,” comments Emma Wells, Founder and Director at The Jackloc Company Ltd. “To be recognised with the most prestigious award in business is an incredible honour and is the result of our unwavering commitment to improving window and door safety through our innovative range of cable restrictors.”

Jackloc started life as clever solution created by Emma’s father Derek Horne, after hearing the frightening story of a child dangling from a hotel window. The design was turned into a business by Emma and her late sister Deborah who started selling universal Jackloc restrictors in the UK and internationally. Their other sister Judith Burrows from Burbage joined Jackloc as a Director in 2008, continuing the family tradition.

“It’s been a meteoric rise for Jackloc,” adds Judith. “From humble beginnings, we are now supplying our restrictors across the world with Jackloc becoming the global standard for quality and safety. Our range of window and door restrictors are safeguarding thousands of lives every day, whether that’s a parent protecting their child in the home or uses in hotels, hospitals and education buildings in the UK and abroad.”

The original, key-lockable Jackloc designed by Derek Horne has been joined by a range of cable restrictors including a Push and Turn, Swivel/Stud, and the new Folding restrictors. All Jacklocs are designed and manufactured in the Midlands, and have been engineered and extensively tested to work with all types of window and door material.
