Manjit provides marvellous maths support for 10 yea

On Wednesday 10th May, Manjit Saimbi was presented with a long service award for 10 years of superb support to the Number Partners Project.Manjit volunteers at Westfield Junior School in Hinckley and started volunteering in 2007 while working for Cadent (previously National Grid). After retiring, Manjit was keen to continue supporting local pupils to share his enthusiasm and interest in working with numbers and young people in his local community. His dedication to the project has meant that over 100 pupils have now benefited from his knowledge, confidence and sense of humour with one child saying “Manjit has helped my confidence and has made me challenge myself. He is funny and lovely.”

Joanne Hudson, Membership Coordinator commented, “Manjit’s professional background from working at Cadent means that he is a super confident mathematician, but he is also gentle, supportive, nurturing and always has a smile. His conversations with his pupils are always interesting and varied, not only talking about the maths games and day to day school life, but how maths is useful to everyone inside and outside of school and work. His interest and enthusiasm is simply infections and the pupils at Westfield really value the time that they spend with him.”

Well done and thank you Manjit and here’s to another 10 years!
