Community Safety Case Study – Richard

Richard was referred to the Community Safety project from Apex. He had been unemployed for 2.5 years and despite completing voluntary work throughout this period, he feared going back into employment.

Richard was placed into the City Parks where he took on two roles: Helping to maintain the city parks, but also looking after the plants within offices around Leicester. He saw this opportunity as a further means of “turning my life around” and successfully completed the two weeks, with an excellent review from the Parks Team at the end of this.

In response to completing the placement, Richard says: “I am glad I got involved with Leicestershire Cares as they have given me the opportunity to gain confidence in myself. Doing the work placement, after being out of work for a long length of time, I now have the confidence that I can do it”.
