Community Safety Case Study – Carlton

Carlton Chokufa was referred to Leicestershire Cares in May 2015 through the Probation service.  He was interviewed and accepted onto the Community Safety Work Placement Scheme.

Leicestershire Cares secured an interview for him with the University of Leicester for a two week placement in painting and decorating.  Carlton made a great impression at the interview so was offered a placement at the University.  During his placement Carlton was constantly punctual and an extremely hard worker; he completed the placement successfully and the University were very pleased with his attitude and level of commitment.  Carlton thoroughly enjoyed his time there and it raised his self-confidence level significantly.

Carlton is the first person to complete a work placement in painting and decorating at the University and his mentor, Chris Dunsmore, gave the following quote:

”It’s been a pleasure to be involved with the work of Leicestershire Cares.  Helping Carlton get back to work, it’s so rewarding for everyone. We are going to miss him”

Carlton is being put forward as a candidate for the CSCS training taking place later this month which we wish him every success with!
