Celebration in the sunshine in Hinckley!

Barry Grant started working as a Number Partner volunteer for Cadent (formally National Grid) in 2006 while based at their Hinckley Operational Centre. Even after his retirement, he loved the project so much that he decided to continue and today has been awarded a Golden Heart to celebrate his fabulous 10th Year of service to St Mary’s Primary School in Hinckley.

We attended a special celebration assembly (and sang!) with the presentation being made by Alison Horsler, the maths lead at the school. A School Governor also thanked him for his support saying “we want to make maths real, relevant and useful to our pupils. We thank you for showing so many children that they CAN do it while boosting their confidence along the way.”

Joanne Hudson, Membership Coordinator commented “Barry is a superb Number Partner. It amazes me to think that some of the pupils that he supported in the early days will be adults now and hopefully, still enjoying maths and using keys skills that Barry supported them with”.

Well done Barry and thank you for your fabulous support to Number Partners with Leicestershire Cares.
